Habitat for Humanity’s success can be based on some very simple realities. One of the most prominent of these is the fact that the truth illuminates the need. Habitat has been exceptionally useful and will continue to grow on the basis that people who realize how easy it is to help so many, they will take action. The housing crisis is not only an injustice that needs to be realized, it is one that inhibits many other movements. It is for this reason that the chapter keep as one of its priorities to give education equal value as solving the problems they already see and tackling the goals they have already set.
When we encounter people in our everyday lives that are deeply connected to and affected by the issue of sub-standard and poverty housing, we become more aware of the need for improved living conditions for all, and with this sense of awareness, we become better educators and advocators ourselves with shared ownership in the issues. |
