Here at UW Habitat for Humanity, due to the success of our fundraisers thanks to awesome volunteers, community support, and sponsors, we’re lucky enough to have our own student-built house in the Madison area every year!
This year, we’re building our 10th house, one of the final two homes in the Twin Oaks subdivision. Twin Oaks is a neighborhood built on a plot of land bought by Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. This means everything from clearing the land to paving and naming the roads has all been done by Habitat. Half of the lots were sold to private developers to help pay for the project, while half have been built as Habitat homes, including four by UW Habitat (this will be our 5th). For more information about Twin Oaks, head over to HFHDC’s site.
Our house this year is being built at 5201 Brandenburg Way. It will be our second green build, and we’re planning for it to be LEED certified.
